“Encantos e Desencontros da Cumadre Fulozinha” (Cumadre Fulozinha’s enchantments and unsuccessful meetings)

Finding Enchantments...

The wish of bringing to the public sparkles of so many popular cultures that live in Brazil inspired Babado de Chita to produce the play “Encantos e Desencontros da Cumadre Fulozinha” (Cumadre Fulozinha’s enchantments and unsuccessful meetings) .

The play intends to take to the children a little bit of the Brazilian traditional universe, through legends, dances, rhythms, and also, to light up in the public the curiosity about artistic manifestations that compose our identity. Furthermore, to point out to the recent serious ecological issues.

It was such a beautiful day when Cumadre Fulozinha – the phantom that defends the Brazilian forests – was leafing through a book and saw Curupira’s image... that’s when she falls in love with him. From this moment on, Fulozinha recontacts her human part when dealing with love and its uncertainties, counting on her friend Sabiá (a bird species, typical in Brazil, whose name in English is Rufous-bellied Thrush) to try to mail her love.

Within this passion she faces the threats against the forest, like fire, pollution and hunters. She uses her enchanted powers and the happiness of music and dance to overcome the daily fights in the forest.
